He didn’t stay at home.
Textbook: p. 22
GoalPast Simple: regular verbs (-ed) and the negative didn’t + base form.
New words
yesterday · kechawash · yuvmoqhelp · yordam bermoqstay · qolmoq
Explanation
The Past Simple talks about finished actions: yesterday, last week. Regular verbs add -ed: stay → stayed, help → helped, clean → cleaned, wash → washed, mop → mopped (the consonant doubles). Irregular verbs change in other ways: take → took, sweep → swept. Negative: “didn’t + base form”: “I didn’t stay at home.” (not stayed!). The form is the same for all persons (I, he, they ...).
Worked examples
Last Saturday I visited my granny. I watered her flowers and we cooked plov together. I didn’t watch TV.
Last Sunday Bekzod didn’t play computer games. He walked to the river with his dad and painted a picture of the bridge.
Class activity
“True or false”: a pupil says two things they did yesterday and one they didn’t. The class finds the false one: “You didn’t wash the dishes!”
