Explanation
People live in a house or in a flat: “We live in a flat.” “They live in a big house.” Things in a home: a bed, a table, a chair, a dresser, a mirror, a fridge, a cooker, a blanket, a pillow, a rug. Before a noun we use a, and an before a vowel sound: a chair, an armchair. To say what is in a room we can use have: “The room has a bed and a mirror.”
Worked examples
My grandparents live in a house with a garden. Their kitchen has a big table, six chairs and an old fridge.
We live in a flat on the third floor. My room is small. It has a bed, a dresser, a mirror and a green rug.
Class activity
“Fill the room”: the teacher says a room (kitchen, bedroom); pupils take turns naming one piece of furniture that fits. No repeating!
