Autumn
Textbook: p. 68
GoalAutumn; how many seasons there are; giving reasons for liking a season with because.
New words
autumn · kuzswallow · qaldirg‘ochrainy · yomg‘irlifresh air · toza havo
Explanation
There are four seasons in Uzbekistan: winter, spring, summer, autumn. Question: “How many seasons are there in Uzbekistan?” — “There are four.” In some parts of Africa people also divide the year into two seasons, the wet and the dry (Africa is very big and its climate differs). In autumn swallows fly to warmer countries. Reason: “I like autumn because there are a lot of grapes and melons.” “I like winter because I can make a snowman.” After because we put a full sentence.
Worked examples
I like autumn because the leaves are golden. It’s cool and I can walk in the park. I also like it because school starts and I see my friends.
— How many seasons are there in Uzbekistan? — There are four. — Which season do you like? — I like winter because I like snow.
