Explanation

The oldest person in a family is the eldest, the smallest in age is the youngest. Question: “Who is the eldest in your family?” Answer: “My great-grandad is the eldest. He is 92 years old.” We say age with “I am 10 years old”. In the past the verb “to be” becomes was/were: I/he/she/it was, we/you/they were. For example: “My favourite toy was a blue bus.” Question: “What was your favourite toy?” Remember: the youngest is used with the.
