Explanation

About the weather: “What’s the weather like?” — “It’s hot / warm / cool / cold / freezing.” Approximate temperatures: hot – 35°C and above, warm – 20–25°C, cool – 10–15°C, cold – around 0°C, freezing – below 0°C. Question: “What do you do when it’s cold?” — “I wear a warm jacket and a scarf.” Why: “I like cool weather because I can play tennis.” We use because whether we like the weather or not: “I don’t like rainy weather because I can’t ride my bike.” Parts of the day: in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening.

Worked examples
When it’s hot, I swim in the river. When it’s cool, I go for a walk. When it’s freezing, I wear my warm boots and gloves, and I drink hot tea at home.
— What weather do you like? — I like warm weather. — Why? — Because when it’s warm I can play in the yard.

“Weather and actions”: the teacher says the weather (“It’s freezing!”), pupils mime what they do.
