Holidays in Uzbekistan: New Year – 1 January, Women’s Day – 8 March, Navruz – 21 March, Independence Day – 1 September, Teachers’ Day – 1 October. We write a date with numbers: 21 March, and read it: “the twenty-first of March”. Prepositions: on with a date (on 21 March), in with a month (in July). Navruz is an ancient spring holiday; many peoples celebrate it as the start of the new year. Greeting: “Happy Navruz!” Reason: “I like Navruz because we make sumalak with our neighbours.”
