New words
temperature · haroratdegree · darajaminus · minusclothes · kiyim
Explanation
We say the temperature like this: “The temperature is ... degrees”: 14° = fourteen degrees. Below zero we use minus: −5° = minus five degrees. Question: “What’s the temperature?” Answer: “It’s 40 degrees. It’s hot.” Clothes for the weather: “When it’s minus eight, I wear a warm coat, a hat and gloves.” “When it’s 30 degrees, I wear a T-shirt and a cap.” A table: weather, temperature, place, clothes. We use the Celsius scale (°C).
Worked examples
Today in Tashkent the temperature is twenty degrees. It’s sunny and warm. In Nukus it’s minus three degrees. It’s cold and icy.
— What’s the temperature in Termez? — It’s forty degrees. — That’s very hot! — Yes, and it’s sunny. I wear a cap.
Class activity
“Guess the weather”: the teacher gives a temperature (−10°), pupils name the weather and clothes: “It’s freezing. I wear a coat”.
