GoalKnow the days of the week; irregular past forms (go – went, see – saw, buy – bought, eat – ate) and questions with did.
New words
days of the week · hafta kunlariwent · bordisaw · ko‘rdibought · sotib oldi
Explanation
Days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Days are written with a capital letter! “On Monday” means dushanba kuni. Some verbs do not take -ed, they are irregular: go → went, see → saw, buy → bought, eat → ate. Question: “Where did you go on Saturday?” – did + base form (go, not went!). Answer: “They went to the market.” Negative: “They didn’t buy fruit.” With days we use on: on Friday.
Worked examples
Last week our class went to Bukhara. On Monday we saw the Ark. On Tuesday we ate palov and bought small gifts. We didn’t go to the zoo.
— What did you eat on Wednesday, Kamila? — I ate soup and bread. — Where did you go on Thursday? — I went to the library.
Class activity
“Week diary”: pupils take turns telling about one day of last week: “On Saturday I went to the park. I saw my friends.” Others ask: “Where did you go?”
