Midday? Midnight?

Textbook: p. 32
Goala.m. and p.m., midday and midnight; parts of the day and lesson times.
New words
midday · tush paytimidnight · yarim tunin the morning · ertalabin the evening · kechqurun
Explanation

Parts of the day: in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening. Midday is 12.00 noon and midnight is 24.00. To be exact we write a.m. (from midnight to midday) and p.m. (from midday to midnight): 8.00 a.m. is eight in the morning, 3.30 p.m. is half past three in the afternoon. 15.30 = 3.30 p.m. Lesson time: “When is English?” — “It’s at half past nine.” We use in with parts of the day and at with clock times.

Worked examples
School starts at 8.00 a.m. Lunch is at midday. I do my homework at 4.30 p.m. and go to bed at 9.00 p.m.
— When is geography? — It’s at half past eleven in the morning. — And PE? — At quarter past one in the afternoon.
Class activity

“Time race”: the teacher says a 24-hour time (15.30) and pupils write the 12-hour time with a.m./p.m. on the board: 3.30 p.m.
