Explanation

New subjects: handicrafts, botany, geography, literature, history. Other words: a timetable, a playground. We say “I like geography” or “I don’t like history”. Reason: “I like it because it’s fun.” With a classmate: “I like art. And you?” — “I like music.” Report about several people: “We like handicrafts. We don’t like maths.” Languages (English, Russian) always start with a capital letter.

Worked examples
I like botany because it’s interesting. I like plants and flowers. I don’t like history because it’s boring for me, but my friend likes it.
— I like literature. And you? — I like botany. — Why? — Because I like plants. — We like handicrafts. We don’t like maths.
Class activity

“My favourite subject”: a pupil gives three hints about a subject and the others guess: “Is it botany?” — “Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t.”
