Explanation

We talk about summer holidays in the past: “Last summer we went to Khiva. We got there by plane.” Irregular verbs: go → went, get → got, come → came, eat → ate, see → saw, have → had. Regular: stay → stayed, watch → watched, rain → rained. Negative: “We didn’t go to the market because it was very hot.” Question: “How did you get there?” — “By plane.” Sequence: first, then, after breakfast, in the evening. Weather in the past: it was cloudy, it rained.

Worked examples
Last August we went to Zaamin. We got there by car. In the mornings we walked in the forest. One day we saw a big eagle. In the evenings we sat by the fire with our cousins.
— How did you get there? — By car. — Did you climb the mountains? — Yes, we did. It was hard but great.
Class activity
