Explanation

Animal and baby: goose – gosling, goat – kid, turkey – poult, donkey – foal, horse – foal, pig – piglet, duck – duckling, sheep – lamb, cow – calf, hen – chick. Some plurals are irregular: sheep → sheep, goose → geese, calf → calves. Pronouns: I – me, he – him, she – her, it – it, we – us, you – you, they – them. Subject: “I feed the ducks.” Object: “The ducks know me.” “This is my lamb. I love it and it follows me.” After the verb we use me, him, her, us, them.

Worked examples
My grandad has three cows. He milks them every morning. One cow has a calf. The calf follows her everywhere. Those geese are loud, but I like them.
My uncle has a donkey and a foal. He feeds them every morning. The foal knows him and runs to him.
Class activity

“Who is my baby?”: cards with animals and babies. Pupils find their match: “I’m a duck. You’re my duckling”.
