Explanation
Subjects: English, Mathematics (maths), Mother tongue, Art, Music, PE (physical education), Computers. About the timetable: “What’s the first lesson on Monday?” — “It’s English.” Liking a subject: “Do you like history?” — “Yes, I do. I like it because it’s interesting.” / “No, I don’t. I don’t like it because it’s boring.” Adjectives: interesting, fun, difficult, boring. Because gives a reason. When we talk about one subject we say it: “I like it”, and them for plural.
Worked examples
Monday: 1 Mother tongue, 2 Maths, 3 English, 4 PE. The third lesson on Monday is English. I like English because it’s fun.
— Do you like music? — Yes, I do. I like it because it’s fun. — Do you like computers? — No, I don’t. They’re difficult for me.
Class activity
“Subject survey”: a pupil asks a classmate about three subjects and writes the answers with reasons.
