Explanation

A pronoun is a word class that does not itself name an exact thing or quality, but takes the place of words such as nouns, adjectives and numerals, of a phrase, or even of a whole sentence. It either points to something or asks about it. For example, in “Bog‘bon daraxtlarni sug‘ordi, keyin ularni oqladi” (The gardener watered the trees, then whitewashed them) the word “ularni” stands in place of “daraxtlarni”. We can only tell what a pronoun means from the text, by looking at the word it replaces. By meaning, pronouns are divided into seven kinds: personal, reflexive, demonstrative, interrogative, defining, negative and indefinite. In a sentence a pronoun can be the subject, object, attribute and other parts.

Worked examples
Dilnoza read a book. She was very happy. (“U” stands for “Dilnoza”.)
Kim keldi? Nima bo‘ldi? — interrogative pronouns; men, sen, u — personal pronouns.
