Explanation

A conjunction is an auxiliary word that joins sentence members with the same function, or the simple sentences inside a compound sentence. Va, ammo, lekin, biroq, chunki, yo ... yo, goh ... goh, dam ... dam are among them. For example, in “Anor va behi sotib oldik” (We bought pomegranates and quinces) “va” links two homogeneous members, and in “Quyosh chiqdi, biroq havo salqin edi” (The sun came out, but the air was cool) “biroq” links two simple sentences. The conjunction itself is not a sentence member and answers no question. Besides linking, it gives the sentence an additional meaning such as contrast, reason or condition.

Worked examples
Kitob va daftar stolda (The book and the notebook are on the table) — “va” links two subjects (homogeneous parts).
Dars tugadi, ammo bolalar chiqmadi (The lesson ended, but the children did not leave) — “ammo” links two simple sentences.
Class activity

Linking with conjunctions: join two simple sentences (It rained. We stayed home.) with different conjunctions.
