Explanation

The same meaning can sometimes be expressed both by a postposition and by a suffix. For example, the suffix -dek gives the meaning of likeness, and in this respect it is synonymous with the postpositions kabi, singari, yanglig‘: muzdek sovuq — muz kabi sovuq (cold as ice). The dative suffix -ga, in the sense of direction, comes close to the postposition tomon: bekatga yurdik — bekat tomon yurdik (we walked to/toward the bus stop). Synonymous forms help to avoid repeating the same word in a text and to express a thought in varied ways. However, since there are shades of difference between them, they cannot always replace each other.

Worked examples
Ipakdek yumshoq — ipak kabi yumshoq — ipak singari yumshoq (soft as silk): all three forms are synonymous.
Tog‘ga qarab ketdik — tog‘ tomon ketdik (We went toward the mountain): the direction is the same.
