Explanation

The conjunction ya’ni is the clarifying conjunction. It clarifies and explains a thought or word said before: Biz eng sevimli faslimizda, ya’ni bahorda, tog‘ga chiqamiz (In our favourite season, that is, in spring, we go up into the mountains). In writing, a comma is always put before the conjunction ya’ni. If the clarifying part comes in the middle of the sentence, it is set off with commas on both sides: Bayram, ya’ni Navro‘z, keldi (The holiday, that is Navruz, came). Ya’ni is a subordinating conjunction because it links the second part to the first as its explanation.

Worked examples
Dars soat ikkida, ya’ni tushdan keyin boshlanadi (The lesson starts at two, that is in the afternoon) — ya’ni explained “soat ikkida”.
Mening yurtim, ya’ni O‘zbekiston, go‘zal (My land, that is Uzbekistan, is beautiful) — ya’ni is set off by commas on both sides.
