Explanation
Depending on how they are used in a sentence, conjunctions are single or repeated. A single conjunction comes once, between the parts being linked: va, ammo, lekin, biroq, chunki, yo: Non va choy keltirdi (He brought bread and tea); Shoshildi, biroq ulgurmadi (He hurried but did not make it). A repeated conjunction is repeated before each part: yo ... yo, dam ... dam, goh ... goh: Dam qor yog‘adi, dam yomg‘ir (Now it snows, now it rains). Some conjunctions are used both ways: “yo” can come single (Choy yo sharbat — tea or juice) and repeated (Yo choy, yo sharbat — either tea or juice). A comma is put before the second part of a repeated conjunction.
Worked examples
Va, lekin — single; goh ... goh — repeated.
Ham ... ham: Bu kitob ham qiziq, ham foydali (This book is both interesting and useful).
