Where did pizza come from?
Textbook: p. 42
GoalAsk and say where foods came from with “Where did … come from?”
New words
come from – came from · ... dan kelmoqchocolate · shokoladcoffee · qahvalong ago · uzoq vaqt oldin
Explanation
We ask about the origin of food in the past: “Where did pizza come from?” — “It came from Italy.” Come – came (irregular). After did, come stays in the base form. Famous examples: pizza — Italy; fish and chips — England; the sausage of the hot dog is linked with Frankfurt in Germany, and hot dogs became famous in the USA; chocolate — Central America and Mexico (the cacao tree grew there); coffee — Africa (Ethiopia); bread — very old, from Asia. There is a famous story that Marco Polo brought pasta from China, but historians think pasta was already known in Italy, so it is only a legend.
