How much are they?

Textbook: p. 24
GoalLearn fruit names, ask prices and read numbers above 1,000.
New words
pomegranate · anorfig · anjirquince · behihalf a kilo · yarim kilo
Explanation

To ask a price use “How much are they?” for plurals and “How much is it?” for singular. Answer: “They’re 5,000 soums a kilo.” Amounts: a kilo, half a kilo, two kilos. The seller asks: “Anything else?” Reading numbers: 250 – two hundred and fifty; 1,500 – one thousand five hundred; 1,250 – one thousand two hundred and fifty; 2,125 – two thousand one hundred and twenty-five. Say and after the hundreds; between tens and units use a hyphen (twenty-five). Fruits: pomegranate, fig, quince, grapes, melon, peach.

Worked examples
— Do you have any grapes? — Yes. How many kilos do you want? — How much are they? — They’re 8,000 soums a kilo. — Half a kilo, please. — Anything else? — No, thank you. — That’s 4,000 soums, please.
1,250 — one thousand two hundred and fifty; 3,500 — three thousand five hundred.
