Explanation
North America has three big countries: Canada (capital Ottawa), the USA (capital Washington, D.C.) and Mexico (capital Mexico City). Canada is to the north of the USA and Mexico is to the south. People in Canada speak English and French. Canada is a very big country, second in the world by area. The population is about 40 million. Most people live in big cities in the south, such as Toronto and Vancouver. Present Simple: “People in Canada speak English and French.” “About 40 million people live in Canada.” For location use in the north of, to the north of. Brr! is what we say when we feel cold.

Why “People speak” and not “People speaks”?
People is plural, and plural subjects take no -s.
