The checking word

Textbook: Part 1, topic 4, pp. 46–59
GoalUse a checking word to write the final consonant of a word correctly.
New words
to check · tekshirmoqchecking word · tekshiruvchi so‘zschool · maktabanswer · javob
Explanation

To know how the last consonant is written, we add a vowel to the end of the word. The word with the added vowel is called the checking word. Kitob — kitobi: we hear b, so we write b. Barg — bargi: we write g. Ko‘p (many) — ko‘pi: we write p.

Worked examples
maktab — maktabi (his/her school), odob — odobi (his/her manners), tog‘ — tog‘i (its mountain)
javob — javobi (his/her answer), hisob — hisobi (his/her count)
Class activity
