Conversation

Explanation

A talk between two or more people is called a conversation (suhbat). One person asks, another answers, then the turns swap. In a conversation each person must both speak and listen. In writing a dash (—) is put before each speaker’s line.

Worked examples
“Greeting”. — Assalomu alaykum, Zafar aka! — Va alaykum assalom, Madina! How are you? — Fine, thank you. And are you well? — I am well too, thank you.
Two people are talking in this conversation: Madina and Zafar aka.
Class activity

“Phone call”: pairs play a conversation with a toy phone. One calls, the other answers. The other children report who said what.
