Explanation
Instructions (yo‘riqnoma) are a text that teaches how to use something correctly and safely. They come with a medicine box, a toy or an electrical appliance. We first read the instructions to the end and then follow them. They often contain “do” or “do not” directions.
Worked examples
“Using an electric kettle”. Pour water into the kettle. Close the lid. Press the button. Do not touch the kettle with wet hands. When the water has boiled, switch it off.
“Do” — Close the lid. “Do not” — Do not touch with wet hands.
Class activity
“Follow the rule”: the teacher reads instructions (washing hands or sharpening a pencil). Children mime each step in order.
