Explanation

Words showing the feature of a person or thing answer Qanday? or Qanaqa? (What kind?). A feature can be a colour (qizil — red), shape (yumaloq — round), taste (shirin — sweet), size (katta — big) or a person’s character (mehribon — kind). A feature word usually comes before the name of the thing: qizil olma (a red apple).

Worked examples
Qanaqa ruchka? — Qizil ruchka. (What kind of pen? — A red pen.) Qanday kuchuk? — Quvnoq kuchuk. (What kind of dog? — A cheerful dog.)
shirin qovun (sweet melon), yumaloq tarvuz (round watermelon), mehribon buvi (kind grandma)
