Identical consonants side by side in a word

Textbook: Part 2, topic 10, pp. 44–55
GoalSpot two identical consonants side by side in a word and know that both are written.
New words
snow-white · oppoqeveryone · hammahead · kallasmile · tabassum
Explanation

In some words two identical consonants stand side by side: tabassum (smile), izzat (respect), chaqqon (quick), oppoq (snow-white), hamma (everyone). When we speak they sound a little longer, but in writing both letters are written. If we leave one out, the word is misspelled.

Worked examples
oppoq (pp), hamma (mm), kalla (ll), izzat (zz)
ikki (two) (kk), yetti (seven) (tt), sakkiz (eight) (kk), to‘qqiz (nine) (qq) — they appear in numbers too.
Class activity

“Twins”: the teacher shows word cards. If a word has two identical consonants, children raise two fingers and name the letter.
