Finding linked words by asking questions
Textbook: Part 4, topic 22, pp. 17–28
GoalFind words linked by meaning by asking questions.
New words
question · so‘roqto where? · qayerga?when? · qachon?what kind? · qanday?
Explanation
We find linked words by asking questions. First we ask a question about a core word. For example, in “Rangli qushlar uzoqqa uchdi” (The colourful birds flew far away): qushlar — qanday qushlar? (what kind of birds?) Rangli qushlar (colourful birds). Uchdi — qayerga uchdi? (where did they fly?) Uzoqqa (far away). The word that answers is linked to the core word.
Worked examples
Bolalar bog‘da quvnoq o‘ynadi. (The cheerful children played in the garden.) Qanday? — quvnoq. Qayerda o‘ynadi? — bog‘da.
Yomg‘ir ertalab yog‘di. (It rained in the morning.) Qachon yog‘di? — ertalab.
Class activity
“Question chain”: one child says a sentence, the next asks a question about a core word, the third answers. The questions and answers continue like a chain.
