Finding and using action words in sentences

Textbook: Part 3, topic 18, pp. 64–69
GoalFind action words in sentences and texts and use them in sentences.
New words
to water · sug‘ormoqto plant · ekmoqto pick · termoqto drink · ichmoq
Explanation

To find action words in a text, we ask each sentence “Nima qildi?” or “Nima qiladi?”. The word that answers is the action word. We underline action words with two lines. When making sentences we also choose a fitting action word: gulni ekdi (planted a flower), mevani terdi (picked fruit), choyni ichdi (drank tea).

Worked examples
“Sunday”. On Sunday our family went to the garden. Dad watered the trees. Mum planted flowers. My older brother picked apricots. I played with my puppy. In the evening we all drank tea.
Action words: bordi (went), sug‘ordi (watered), ekdi (planted), terdi (picked), o‘ynadim (played with), ichdik (drank).
Class activity

“Action hunters”: a text is read aloud. When children hear an action word they stand up and mime it (planted, picked, drank).
