Explanation
Sergey Pavlovich Korolev (1907–1966) was the chief designer of Soviet rocket and space technology. Under his leadership the world’s first artificial satellite was launched on 4 October 1957, and on 12 April 1961 Yuri Gagarin flew into space in the «Vostok» spacecraft. «Который» picks out a particular object: «Инженер, который руководил работой, был строг». «Какой» adds a comparison and usually goes with «такой» in the main clause: «Он сделал такое открытие, какого раньше не было». «Чей» shows possession and declines (чей, чья, чьё, чьи): «Учёный, чьи идеи изменили науку, жил в Калуге» — about K. E. Tsiolkovsky (1857–1935).
Worked examples
«Это такая ракета, какую наша школа раньше не видела». «Какую» goes with «такая» and compares; accusative.
«Королёв — инженер, чьи расчёты помогли запустить спутник». «Чьи» is plural, agreeing with «расчёты»; possession.
