Explanation
«Весь» (вся, всё, все) means the full amount of something, with nothing left out: «Я прочитал всю главу», «Все ученики вошли в онлайн-урок». «Целый» (целая, целое, целые) means a whole, undamaged unit or stresses that the amount or time is large: «целый торт, целый день за компьютером, чашка осталась целой». «Весь день» is neutral (“all day”), «целый день» adds emphasis (“a whole day!”). With uncountable and plural nouns «весь, все» is usual: «вся информация, все программы». Distance learning, e-textbooks and online platforms add to school study but do not replace the teacher.
Worked examples
«Весь урок мы работали с планшетами» (neutral), «Мы просидели целый урок над одной задачей» (emphasis: a long time).
