Explanation

«Где, куда, откуда» do not change and show place, direction and source: «Я знаю, где находится музей», «Скажи, куда ты идёшь», «Мы узнали, откуда пришло письмо». «Который» declines: its gender and number follow the noun it defines, its case follows its role in the clause: «Книга, о которой ты говорил, интересная». The clause stands next to the noun it defines and is set off by commas. In «тот, кто…» and «то, что…» the main clause has a demonstrative. Verbal nouns use suffixes such as -ние, -ение, -ание, -тие, -ство: «исследовать — исследование».

Worked examples
«Это институт, откуда выпускники уезжают работать за границу». «Откуда» is the source; the clause defines «институт».
«Те, кто готовится заранее, пишут тест уверенно». «Те, кто» is plural; the second clause starts with «кто».
