Distributive numerals and their formation

Textbook: pp. 168–169
GoalForm and use distributive numerals.
New words
distributive numeral · taqsim son-tadan (each) · -tadaneach · har
Explanation

Numerals that show a quantity distributed are distributive numerals. They are made with -tadan: bittadan (one each), ikkitadan, beshtadan, o‘ntadan. The distributive gives the sense “the same amount to each”: O‘quvchilarga ikkitadan daftar berildi (each pupil was given two notebooks). The distributive often appears with har (each): har bir bolaga uchtadan olma (three apples for every child). The suffix is joined to the numeral; it looks like the ablative ending but here it expresses distribution.

Worked examples
We gave each pupil two pens.
We put five chairs in each row.
Class activity

“Hand out”: distribute classroom objects (notebooks, pens) one or two each and make sentences.
