Explanation
Names given to a particular person, thing or place are proper nouns. By what they name they divide into names of persons, places and things. A person’s first name, patronymic, surname and pen name are personal names and are always capitalized: Alisher, Navoiy, Cho‘lpon. A surname is formed by leaving a first name after another (Usmon Nosir) or by adding -ov(a), -yev(a) to the father’s name (Erkin Vohidov, Zarina Karimova). The words o‘g‘li (son of) and qizi (daughter of) are lowercase after the patronymic: Yo‘ldosh o‘g‘li, Akbar qizi. Name elements -xon, -jon, -bek, -boy, -qul, -berdi, -xo‘ja are joined to the name: Sobirjon, Ergashboy, Alibek.
