The intensive degree

Textbook: pp. 148–149
GoalForm and write the intensive degree of the adjective.
New words
intensive degree · orttirma darajavery · judamost · eng
Explanation

The form showing that the attribute is above the norm is the intensive degree. It arises in two ways. First, words eng, juda, g‘oyat, nihoyatda, bag‘oyat are placed before the positive adjective: juda qizil (very red), g‘oyat shirin (extremely sweet), eng baland (the tallest). Second, the first syllable of the adjective is repeated with a sound change: qop-qora (jet black), yam-yashil (bright green), bus-butun (whole), kap-katta (huge), to‘ppa-to‘g‘ri (perfectly straight). The repeated part is separated by a hyphen. Both ways show a strong attribute.
