The positive degree

Textbook: p. 147
GoalKnow the positive degree of the adjective.
New words
positive degree · oddiy darajanorm · me’yorbase form · asos shakl
Explanation

The form that shows an attribute at its normal level and serves as the base for other degrees is the positive degree. It has no special suffix and is the dictionary form: baland (tall), chiroyli (beautiful), toza (clean), issiq (hot). It does not compare the attribute with anything and neither strengthens nor weakens it. Other degree forms are made from it: baland — balandroq, juda baland, sal baland. In a sentence a positive adjective defines a noun or is a predicate: baland bino (a tall building); bino baland (the building is tall).
