Textbook: pp. 66–67
GoalKnow the pronunciation and spelling of adverbial-participle suffixes.
New words
pronunciation · talaffuzspelling · imlosuffix -gach · -gachsuffix -guncha · -guncha
Explanation

The suffixes -gach, -guncha, -gancha, -gani are added to verb stems ending in vowels and voiced consonants: o‘qigach, borguncha, kelgancha, yurgani. After voiceless consonants they may sound like -kach, -kuncha, -kancha, -kani but are written -gach, -guncha, -gancha, -gani: ketgach, o‘sguncha. Only after k do we write -kach, -kuncha, -kancha, -kani, and after q we write -qach, -quncha, -qancha, -qani: tikkach (after sewing), chiqquncha (until going out).

Worked examples
ket+gach = ketgach (pronounced “ketkach”); o‘s+guncha = o‘sguncha.
tik+kach = tikkach; chiq+qach = chiqqach.
