Explanation

Instructive thoughts of well-known people such as famous poets, scholars and statesmen are called wise sayings. They are born of many years of observation and experience and are short but deep in meaning. The main difference between a wise saying and a proverb is that the author of a wise saying is known exactly, while a proverb was created by the people and has no author. That is why, when a wise saying is quoted, its author is always given. For example: «Tilga ixtiyorsiz — elga e’tiborsiz» (one who cannot control his tongue is not respected by the people) (Alisher Navoiy). «Har bir millatning dunyoda borligini ko‘rsatadigan oynayi hayoti til va adabiyotidir» (the mirror showing that a nation exists in the world is its language and literature) (Abdulla Avloniy). Wise sayings help us choose the right way in life.
