Explanation

Punctuation is the field that studies how punctuation marks are used in writing. The marks show pauses, intonation and meaning. Uzbek has ten punctuation marks: period, comma, question mark, exclamation mark, colon, semicolon, ellipsis, dash, parentheses, quotation marks. The dash (–) is a punctuation mark, while the hyphen (-) is a spelling mark: a hyphen is written in «ota-ona» and «ko‘k-yashil», a dash is placed in «Toshkent – poytaxt».
