Explanation
The verb shows an action or state of an object and answers questions such as nima qilmoq? (to do what?), nima qildi? (did what?), nima qiladi? (does what?). Actions: yozmoq (to write), yugurmoq (to run); states: uxlamoq (to sleep), o‘tirmoq (to sit). The verb changes by tense: past (o‘qidi — read), present (o‘qiyapti — is reading) and future (o‘qiydi — will read). It is conjugated by person and number: men o‘qiyman (I read), biz o‘qiymiz (we read). The negative form is made with the suffix -ma: o‘qimadi (did not read). In a sentence the verb usually works as the predicate.
Worked examples
