Reading and speaking: what can you see in your town?

Textbook: p. 29
GoalRead and write a short text about your town: “There is … There are …”.
New words
town · shaharshop · do‘konpark · parkstreet · ko‘cha
Explanation

When you read, first read the title, then find and mark “there is” (one) and “there are” (many). A plan for writing about your town: 1) the name of the town, 2) three places and where they are (next to, across from), 3) your favorite place and why. For example: “My favorite place is the park because it is big and green.” Do not forget capital letters and full stops.

Worked examples
“My town”. I live in a small town near Samarkand. There is a big square in the center. There is a museum across from the square, and there are two banks next to the hotel. There is no subway in our town, so I take the bus to school. My favorite place is the park. It has old trees, and in the evening there are lots of families there.
Class activity

“My town”: each child writes five sentences (name, three places, favorite place). A partner checks for mistakes and asks one question.
