Explanation

To talk about eating and drinking we use the verb “have”: “have soup”, “have tea”, “have a cookie”. Notice countable and uncountable words: “a cookie / two cookies”, but “soup”, “pasta”, “yogurt” have no numbers (“some soup”). “Chips” is usually plural. “Tea” and “coffee” are drinks; coffee is not recommended for children. Be careful: some children are allergic to nuts – never share food without asking.

Worked examples
I have soup and salad for lunch. My sister has yogurt and a cookie.
We eat pasta and drink tea in the evening.
Class activity

“Menu”: groups write a school canteen menu (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Each meal gets a sentence like “We have soup for lunch.” They present it to the class.
