Explanation

Question: “Was it hot and sunny on Monday?” – was comes first. Short answer: “Yes, it was.” or “No, it wasn’t.” After “no” we can tell the real weather: “No, it wasn’t. It was cloudy.” Before a day we use “on”: on Monday, on Friday. If the question has two adjectives, both must be true for “Yes”.

Worked examples
Was it windy on Tuesday? Yes, it was. Was it foggy? No, it wasn’t.
Was it cold and snowy on Friday? No, it wasn’t. It was warm and sunny.
Class activity

“Weather chart”: partners look at a chart and ask “Was it cloudy on Wednesday?” – “Yes, it was.” The pair with the most correct answers wins.
