Textbook: pp. 68–70
GoalKnow the words for illness and pain: cold, cough, earache, stomachache, backache, sore throat, temperature, toothache, headache.
New words
cold · shamollashcough · yo‘talearache · quloq og‘rig‘istomachache · qorin og‘rig‘ibackache · bel og‘rig‘isore throat · tomoq og‘rig‘i
Explanation
Pain words end in “-ache”: head + ache = headache, tooth + ache = toothache, ear + ache = earache, stomach + ache = stomachache, back + ache = backache. “Ache” is read like “ake”. “A cold” and “a cough” are illnesses: “I have a cold.” “Temperature” is body heat; if it is high we say “I have a temperature.” A painful throat is “a sore throat”. Remember: if you feel ill, tell an adult at once; only an adult gives medicine.
