Listening and speaking: do you like talent shows?

Textbook: p. 19
GoalUnderstand a talent show announcement and talk about your own talent.
New words
talent show · ko‘rik-tanlovwinner · g‘olibplan · rejalashtirmoqhall · zal
Explanation

Listening plan: 1) read the questions first. 2) Listen for names, numbers and days. 3) Check your answers the second time. At a talent show we also use “can”: “I can sing. I can play the piano.” Question: “Can you dance?” – “Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.” A talent show plan says what happens, where, and at what time.

Worked examples
“Our class talent show”. Our class has a talent show on Friday at two o’clock in the hall. Shahlo sings a song. Jasur can play the dutar, and he plays it very well. Three girls dance together. Our teacher, Mr. Karimov, takes photos. The winner gets a small gold star. Everybody can come and clap!

“Our talent show”: each group picks three performers who say “I can …”. The class votes.
