Explanation
The weather in Uzbekistan changes with the seasons: summer is hot and dry, winter is cold and sometimes snowy, spring and autumn are warm or cool. In the mountains winter lasts longer and there is more snow. Question: “Is it snowy in your country?” – “Yes, it is, in winter.” / “Not often.” We say “in winter / in summer” with seasons. We use “is” to talk about usual weather.
Worked examples
“Weather in my country”. I live in Uzbekistan. In summer it is very hot and sunny, and we often drink cold tea. In autumn it is warm and sometimes rainy. Winter is cold, and it is snowy in the mountains. In spring it is windy, and the flowers are beautiful. My favorite season is spring because the weather is warm and the trees are green.
Class activity
“Seasons poster”: a group makes a poster about one season (a picture and 3 sentences): “In winter it is cold and snowy.” They show it to the class.
