Textbook: pp. 88–89
GoalWhat old buildings were made of: clay, stone, animal skins (wood, brick).
New words
clay · loystone · toshanimal skins · hayvon terisibrick · g‘isht
Explanation

Long ago people built homes from materials around them. Clay keeps out cold and heat: the old walls in Khiva were made of clay bricks. Stone is strong: the pyramids in Egypt were made of stone blocks. Brick is baked clay: the Registan in Samarkand was built of baked brick and glazed tiles. Animal skins: hunters on the move used them for tents. We say in the past: “The walls were made of clay.” “The tent was made of animal skins.”
