Explanation

A cold is a very common illness. To avoid colds: wear warm clothes, wash your hands often, get enough sleep, eat fruit and vegetables. Answer “How often …?” with “I sometimes have a cold” or “I have a cold twice a year.” (twice = two times). While reading, find the main idea and the reason.

Worked examples
“Cold days”. In winter I sometimes have a cold, but in summer I never have one. When I have a cold, I can’t go to school. I stay at home and rest. My mother makes warm tea with honey. I don’t play football, because I have a cough. After three days I feel better. Now I always wear a warm hat and a scarf in the cold weather.
Class activity
