Carrying over the letter pairs sh, ch, ng

Textbook: Part 2, topic 9, pp. 30–43
GoalKnow that the letter pairs sh, ch, ng are never split when carrying over.
New words
flower grower · gulchicook · oshpazworker · ishchivillage · qishloq
Explanation

Sh, ch and ng stand for one sound, so these letters stay together when carried over. Gul-chi is right, gulc-hi is wrong. Osh-paz is right, os-hpaz is wrong. It is the same in ish-chi (worker), qish-loq (village), o‘-quv-chi (pupil). Ng also moves together to the next line: de- / ngiz.

Worked examples
gul-chi, osh-paz, ish-chi, qish-loq
Wrong: gulc-hi, os-hpaz, ishc-hi. Right: gul-chi, osh-paz, ish-chi.
Class activity

“Fix the mistake”: wrong splits are written on the board (os-hpaz, ishc-hi, qis-hloq). Children come up, correct them and show which letters stay together.

Practice
1
Split oshpaz correctly.
2
Split qishloq correctly.
3
Split uchburchak (triangle) for carrying over.
