Spelling vowels correctly

Textbook: Part 1, topic 2, pp. 16–29
GoalWrite correctly vowels that sound different from how they are written.
New words
spring · bahorair, weather · havoanswer · javobwind · shamol
Explanation

In some words a vowel sounds different from how it is written. For example, we write bahor but say bohor. It is the same in havo, javob, shamol, jahon: the letter a is written, but a sound close to o is heard. In burun (nose) and quduq (well) the letter u is written, but a sound close to i is heard. We memorise such words.

Worked examples
bahor (said bohor), havo (said hovo), javob (said jovob)
Wrong: shomol. Right: shamol (wind). Wrong: qudiq. Right: quduq (well).
Class activity
