Words with many meanings
Textbook: Part 2, topic 12, pp. 72–87
GoalFind words with many meanings and tell their meaning in a sentence.
New words
with many meanings · ko‘p ma’nolitongue, language · tileye · ko‘zfoot, leg · oyoq
Explanation
Some words have several meanings. They are called words with many meanings (ko‘p ma’noli so‘zlar). For example, til is the tongue in the mouth and also a language (o‘zbek tili — the Uzbek language). Oyoq is a part of our body and also the leg of a table. Temir is a metal, but “temir odam” means a strong person. We learn the meaning from the sentence.
Worked examples
Tilim og‘izda. (My tongue is in my mouth.) O‘zbek tili — ona tilimiz. (Uzbek is our mother tongue.)
Oyog‘im og‘ridi. (My foot hurts.) Stolning oyog‘i singan. (The table’s leg is broken.)
Class activity
